Fair September 24, 2000: The largest gathering of perverts (smile
when you say that) anywhere, held in San Francisco every September smOdyssey has built a weekend event around the Folsom Street Fair this year, and asked people from the Santa Clara County Leather Association to organize several aspects of the event. One of these items is Odyssey's space at the Fair. SCCLA and HappyTails between themselves have rented all the booth space on 9th street northwest of Folsom. SCCLA will be managing 3 areas for Odyssey there:
We need your help, though. Staffing this space is a relatively large undertaking. We've categorized the staff in four different classes. Setup Staff is needed to help us raise tents and set up our areas between 10:00am and 11:00am (before the faire starts). We also need a driver to get our truck full of supplies from San Jose to San Francisco by 10:00am. The Working Staff is responsible for operational stuff during the day. We're breaking the day into 4 2-hour shifts so we don't have to ask anybody to work all day. We need 2 people each shift to work the Information table, the charity collections (cashbox), the door of the relaxation area (badgers, if you know what that means), and to pour water inside the relaxation area (bar). The Playing Staff is responsible for the actual charity services. Don't kid yourself, though... this is a real job and we expect the same level of commitment as we do from our working staff. We plan to offer leather cleaning services (on or off the body) and topping/bottoming demo services (to take place at the fair in our demo area, so plan with that in mind) all negotiated in return for a donation to our charity fund. In addition, we plan to have our infamous "Wheel of Torture" game. While we would like to schedule people for these services, this schedule is designed for shorter shifts.
Breakdown Staff will also be needed immediately at the close of the fair (6:00pm). We would like our last shift of working staff to help with this (as they're only scheduled for 1 hour), and will accept other assistance. Also, if we can get assistance from folks who will be back in San Jose around 8:00pm (or 8:30pm) to help unload the truck, we would appreciate it. If you're interested in any of these jobs, please check out the more detailed job description postings .Understand that if you volunteer for any of these jobs, we expect you to take your commitment seriously. If you volunteer for a shift, we expect you to show up and work the time. There are benefits, though. Each working staff job will come with a chair under a canopy on which you can sit while working. At Folsom Street Fair, this is a big deal. We will also provide access to the relaxation area (and water) outside scheduled shifts to any volunteers who don't have event memberships but are scheduled and work at least 4 hours. There are also incentives for playing staff. You get to have fun and help our charities at the same time. Like any other volunteer position, this service time can be credited towards access to the Odyssey space. Volunteers who schedule and work at least 8 hours during the weekend may be eligible for a full membership in Odyssey's Folsom2000 weekend event. There are a limited volunteer memberships available. To earn and take advantage of that membership, you must schedule your shifts in advance. If you would like an idea of the dollar-value of a membership, please check out their registration page. ...please check the schedules below, and email Andy Trembley your interests and availability. All volunteer applications will be reviewed by event staff. If there are any questions, the volunteer coordinators will contact you. If you would like to volunteer for any other part of the weekend, please contact the volunteer coordinators. More detailed job descriptions and volunteer orientation will come soon; please check back here regularly for more information. Setup Crew - 9:00am San Francisco: RH, O69, Dog, JayT
